Inspired by my trip to The Efteling theme park in the Netherlands in 2023, I was awestruck by both the trackless Symbolica Dark ride and its’ fantastical facade. I realized right then that I eventually had to create art of Symbolica. Theme parks are a special interest of mine, so theme park art I create means a lot to me. As a SoCal native who grew up with Disneyland and Universal Studios Hollywood, I would argue that Efteling’s rides exceeded the quality of those found at many American parks. This was the first of an architecture art series. While the art series was initially intended to be European architecture, I decided to incorporate older American architecture as well.
