“Saturday Mornings and Why I Love Them” is inspired by Max’s happiness waking up on a Saturday- the “pleasant” feeling of not needing to worry about work. The first thing Max does on Saturday Mornings is grab an iced coffee and sit outside and enjoy it. In the portrait, Max is calmly sipping on his favorite iced coffee while relaxing. The painting is depicted in colors with a colored circle background to invoke the “good feeling” and “pleasant mood” that Max feels waking up on a Saturday morning. Max had this concept in mind since March or April and finally completed it in early June.
