“Resist” is “protest art” against the 45th President of the United States, Donald Trump. Unlike his other art, Max made this one more “political.” On Friday February 24, Trump issued an order to ban several news outlets from his press briefing because he considered them “fake news.” Scared about Trump’s banning the media, Max created a piece of art, “Resist,” with a stencil of Trump signing a bill on cut-out newspaper, spanning the canvas. Because Trump banned the press from his briefing, Max created the art with Newspaper to symbolize “resistance from the press.” Max bought a copy of the LA Times at his local Starbucks. From that LA Times Newspaper, he cut out several letters headlines to form words spoken at Trump protests including, “Not My President,” “No Ban No Wall,” and “Respect All Women.” Some other protest words were written using watercolor. The background of the table/ protest words is pink, to promote Women’s Rights. The background is in rainbow to promote LGBTQ rights. The Trump stencil was specifically not colored to make him look “dark.” The color is the “resistance” or the “right thing to do,” while the brown and white Trump is the “darkness we need to fight.”
