“Travel Back to Stumptown” is a time travel inspired landscape piece that has an astronomical clock as its center focus over a landscape of Portland, Oregon in the late 19th century with a starry space sky. Portland was referred to as “Stumptown” at the time, because it was full of tree stumps. The clock in front of the landscape was inspired by the astronomical clock in Prague, Czech Republic. The photo of the landscape was inspired by some of Portland’s remaining tree stumps along the Columbia and Willamette Rivers.
Copic markers, POSCA markers, gouache, and calligraphy pen (for the clock numbers) on a 20”x15” illustration board.
