For months, Max thought of doing a piece involving the only remaining Wonder of the World, the Pyramids of Gaza. After creating a black an white “Pyramids” piece, he wanted to create a new piece with color, camels, and a starry space sky with planets. As a result, the “Starry Pyramids of Gaza” piece was created with gouache and watercolor. The piece came out much to Max’s liking. Initially, Max thought about having a group of people riding camels in the foreground. However, he found a photo of a sitting camel that he liked even more. Max used that photo of the camel for reference for the final piece. The sky uses purple hues with large and small planets behind the pyramids.
