“Disneyland 1967: The Sequel” is a “part two” to Disneyland 1967 created earlier this year. The “sequel” mimics the art of the ’60’s more than the prequel. The black and white inks (including copic ink and ballpoint pen) used in the castle’s shading makes the drawing look “60’s,” unlike the bright colored pencils in the prequel. When asked to do landscapes in the style of Social Anxiety or Max’s Brother in Abstraction, Max once again chose Disneyland. Max grew up with Disneyland since he was a child in the early ’90’s and still loves it to this day. The original idea for this was to represent what “Max’s Brain on Disneyland” would look like, inspired by this LA Times Article. However, as Max created the drawing, it looked more “1967” than a “brain on Disneyland” to him. He then decided to make this the “sequel” to Disneyland 1967.
