Here is the first art that I created for my graphic memoir! I have been working on this memoir since late 2023. But I’m now finally actually getting to the art. Right now, I’m doing some character designs of me, which it will make the process of creating the art for the memoir easier. I will be doing much of the art separately, so I could easily edit and re-use panels. As excited as I am about creating the art, I would like to save some time creating the panels.
The first art I created is a character design of me in current times as an adult. The other art for the memoir will have a very similar process to this art. I took a photo of myself using my camera timer and a TriPod at North Pole Studio. This is a wider shot of me. I then drew the main drawing with pencil. I then used COPIC markers, a white POSCA marker, and a few colored pencils to fill it in.
The memoir will be printed in black and white, so all the art will be done in black and white. Much like another project I worked on (that I can’t talk too much about until later), I will draw all the art separately and put them all together on Photoshop and/or ProCreate.
I will be doing more characters designs of myself as a small child, elementary school child, as a teenager, and in college. Hopefully, that will make the process easier and help me save time to get more done efficiently.
I have created a process video that you can watch on my Patreon. There’s a button to the link below. Below that, I included a clip of the process video from Patreon.
