“Nightmare Pence” is a piece representing US Vice President, Mike Pence. This was created after the news broke that he broke the tie in the Senate to pass a bill defunding Planned Parenthood. The Vice President is infamously anti-abortion and as governor of Indiana, signed every anti-abortion bill and believes aborted fetuses should have funerals. Max, who identifies himself as a feminist, was outraged when he learned the bill was passed in the Senate. It was scary as it meant women’s access to proper healthcare and abortions were restricted. Max decided to portray the Vice President in a “nightmarish” tone. He did so by using using black and white pen lines and colors, in lines, circles, and checkerboards.
