“Melrose” is inspired by Max’s trips to Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles. While exploring Melrose Ave, Max was enamored by the shops, restaurants, and murals. Max visited stores and galleries including Yonada, Anthem, Dunkees, and Urban Outfitters. Max was inspired by both the exterior and interior designs of the shops to conduct this piece. This landscape painting represents the “hip” and “groovy” feeling of crossing that street. The cars and street intersection are in psychedelic rainbow colors. The stores have no doors or windows and are made up of black and white psychedelic swirls in pen. The swirls continue into and make up the sky, where they turn into watercolor swirls.
